QUARTET'S HISTORY

 

  • 1985 – foundation of the the Quartetto Italiano di Clarinetti to foster the clarinet and it’s “family” in chamber music.

  • from 1986 – the quartet begins to play in important Festivals in Italy and in many European countries.

  • 1987 – the quartet wins the first prize at “City of Stresa” International Music Competition; in the same year is proud to perform before the Pope John Paul II at the Vatican.

  • 1988 – the quartet is finalist at International Music Awards of Caltanissetta (Italy) and Martigny (Suisse).

  • 1989 – the clarinets group records the programme “Mozart’s Clarinets” for the italian national broadcasting corporation RAI (Raiuno) at Todi Festival. Other radiophonic and tv programmes follows in 1991, 1992 and 1998.

  • 1994 – the quartet represents Italy at the 6th European Clarinet Meeting in Pontarlier (France); the next year at the Conservatoire in Le Havre.

  • 1997 – the quartet plays, in a world premiere, the works of Italian composers at the International Contemporary Music Festival in Opatija (Croatia) for the Croatian Composers Society. The concert is recorded by Zagreb Radio and national Television.

  • 1998 – first compact disc of the Quartetto Italiano di Clarinetti, “Gershwin Serenade” with George Gershwin's most beautiful songs for “Iktius” label.

  • 2002 – the Quartet represents Italy once again at the European Clarinet Congress in Epinal in France; it receives an important award from instrument producers.

  • 2003 – the Quartet’s members teach at the first “Clarinet Quartets Master Class” at Querceto castle (Tuscany).

  • 2004 – the Quartet, invited by the Suisse Radio, records a programme about its history and its repertoire (classic, jazz and world music). The Quartet is invited to Ljubliana (Slovenia) at the European Clarinet Ensemble Meeting.

  • 2005 – second compact-disc of the Quartet, “Tra Bianco e Nero” with classical and world music for “EMA” label.

  • Since 2005 the Quartet has been organizing the International Excellence Clarinet Competition “Memorial Palmiero Giannetti” in Grosseto (Italy).

  • 2007 - the third Quartet's compact disc "I Clarinetti di Mozart" (with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's original pieces).

  • 2007 - tournée in Finland, Sweden and Denmark for important chamber music festivals.

  • 2008 – concerts, master class and radio recording in Texas on invitation from Houston University.
